Service Description:
A community information centre and program of the Oakville Public Library providing information and referral to community organizations and programs that serve residents of Halton Region.


A founding member of the Halton Information Providers (HIP)
  • the purpose of HIP is to support the needs of the residents of Halton by maintaining consistent and credible standards of community and human service information

Also a founding member of the Community Information Online Consortium (CIOC)
  • a consortium of information providers who are using the software which the Halton Information Providers and the Halton libraries originally designed and developed


Main Services
  • free and confidential information and referral service, providing individuals and organizations with current information on services available to Oakville residents
  • share posters, flyers, brochures and pamphlets from community agencies and nonprofits for free to the public through community information boards at all Oakville Public Library branches, and online at www.oakvilleinfo.ca
  • provides a variety of directories and various lists of community organizations 

Halton Information Providers
  • lead agency
  • in partnership with the other Halton resource centres, maintains the Halton Community Services Directory of over 4,000 listings pertaining to non-profit and government organizations providing services to the Halton area
